"Black and White and Shades of Gray" "Shades of Black" "Shades of Gray" "Shades of White" Follow link
to see how the three would look hung on your wall in triptych fashion. |
Black and White and Shades of Gray paintings show a whitetail buck in the place he calls home at three different times during the fall and at different times of the day. Shades of Black is early in the fall and the buck is beginning to make a scrape. Most bucks are very nocturnal at this time of the year and are rarely active except at night. In Shades of Gray, the rut is in full force; the buck is with several does and is wiling to move about in the daylight. He is also ready to race back into the woods at the first sign of danger. Shades of White is late fall or early winter. The stress and
rigor of the rut have left this buck tired and hungry. If he is to survive,
he will have no choice but to move into the fields to feed in order to
restore his lot body weight. |

"The Old Warrior" by Michael Sieve Image Size: 17" x 23" 25" x 31" framed Open Ed. On Sale $209.95 framed S&I included email order form |
"I have seen all the problems this old buck has lived through in either photos, mounted or live deer. The barbed wire in the rack, the broken tine, the bullet hole in a brow point, and all the rest are real injuries a wild buck could experience. For a single buck to have all of these battle scars, he would, no doubt, be an old warrior!" Open edition from the Great Northern Art® collection. Image size, 17" x 23". Framed size, 25" x 31" with a 2" light oak-finish molding. Double matting with a charcoal gray outer mat and brass nameplate. A Wild Wings exclusive. |

"Nature's Plan-Whitetail Deer" by Michael Sieve Image Size: 13" x 34" 950 s/n $175 print $350 framed print S&I included email order form |
"This is a painting of a real deer that lived near my house for five years. I used Trak-Camera photos, sheds, personal observations and sadly, his skull and rack to do a portrait of this buck as he grew from a fawn to a magnificent 16 point mature buck. I spent many hours thinking about, planning and hunting this deer before he died late last fall. He is the largest buck, and possibly the oldest buck, I have seen near my home in Southeast Minnesota in 20 years, and is a good indicator of what the bucks in that area would look like if they could live as long as this buck did." Michael Sieve. NOTE: John Weiss writes in the Post-Bulletin newspaper that Sieve's painting has a message. In Area whitetail artist among the best, again by Weiss, in the Post-Bulletin for February 23rd, 2007 we learn how Sieve began painting wildlife scenes. |

"Over the years I have painted many whitetailed deer and most of them have depicted mature, trophy class bucks. I enjoy painting big deer and I enjoy hunting them. But sadly, they are also very rare. What most of us see are yearling and two-year old deer. This is a painting of a late fall deer herd, with more does than bucks and the bucks are young. And so, even though I usually paint big deer, the buck in this painting is the average deer, the kind of deer living in the woods and fields near our homes." |

"Sieve creates a hunter's 'perfect morning.' He sets the mood with a soothing backdrop of rhythmic patterns and sounds. The heavy air, which seems aching to mist, brings to mind autumn's pungent smells as the steady drone of the combine approaches. The buck's dramatic leap interrupts the serenity. Flickering tails heighten the scene's tempo, accentuating the striking features and well-defined muscles of the trophy whitetail. Indeed, this is a morning filled with possibilities." |

"A striking rack found near Sieve's land was the genesis of 'Deer Country.' Sieve immersed himself in every detail of the antlers, poring over the subtle nuances and imagining the powerful buck that shed them.Stimulated by the potential, his creative mind conceived a unique bronze sculpture that would embody his phantom trophy." |
