"The sighting of a trophy buck is the ultimate thrill for any whitetail enthusiast. The imposing antlers and physical stature of a mature buck make him one of Nature's most handsome specimens; an awesome combination of grace, power and beauty.
Though widely revered, trophy whitetails are exceedingly rare. To attain trophy status, whitetails must meet three criteria: the buck must be born with superior genetics, he must have a rich and abundant food supply, and he must survive to maturity. Proper genetics and ample feed are present for many whitetails, but the odds against a buck enduring the three years it takes to grow trophy antlers are staggering, indeed. In many hunting areas, 80% of bucks live only long enough to grow their first set of antlers.
The remaining bucks - those that run the gauntlet of hunters, predators, automobiles, and accidents to reach maturity - are true survivors. Blessed with instinct and armed with experience, these trophy bucks follow a strict set of rules in order to live another year. Some deer become so good at observing those rules that they die of natural causes, their wariness and intelligence enabling them to evade skillful and persistent hunters. A handful of others, bucks with spreading antlers and bulky frames, will make only one mistake - and become a lucky hunter's deer of a lifetime.
Prints are framed (sample) in a hardwood complemented by a color coordinated double mat. Glass, backing, and hanger finish the framing package.
We take Visa, Master Card and Discover Card via personal contact. Call us today at 507-223-5721 to place your order & determine the matting/framing for the print.  Your print will be on it's way to you as soon as it is framed.

First in the Survival Series. The Inspiration - While the trophy whitetail featured in "Wait 'Til Dark" is shown following Rule #1, the buck that inspired the painting actually broke that rule on the evening of October 16,1995. On that day, veteran whitetail hunter Bob Borowiak took this huge buck while bow hunting on public land near his Houston Minnesota home.
Bob's buck weighed 255 pounds field dressed and the antlers grossed 159 Pope & Young points. By breaking Rule #1, "Wait 'Til Dark," the trophy whitetail made a mistake that allowed Bob to take the buck of his dreams.
