Close observers will notice a single gun leaning by the cabin door, indicating the first hunter has arrived. The lighted window suggests he is awake, but on this first morning too late to see the high flying honkers or the mallard pair sweeping gracefully across the foreground. Published in 1981. |

"Word traveled quickly. Barn dance tonight. The location changed, but the magic of the message vibrated across farm country. It was a time for folks from miles around to gather and socialize. Gender roles were well established. Men talked crops and prices and politics. Women discussed their kitchen kingdoms, home-making and child-rearing. The kids, well they just worked off excess energy and played hard at the eternal mating game. In "Harvest Moon Ball" Terry Redlin captures with a knowing touch this rural American ritual with all its color, excitement and bustling activity." |

On this beautiful fall morning there is not a person in sight. Only the mallards move silently overhead as the loyal dog patiently waits for his master to make last minute purchases at this secluded country store. The early morning breeze has begun to ripple the water and gently stir the flag. Hunting gear has been partially unloaded from the rusty Dodge pickup. The boat is ready at the dock. Soon the hunters will emerge from the lighted doorway and head out down the narrow bay to open water. We can be assured that today's hunt will be highly successful, the conversation rewarding and the memories golden. |

"On a quiet winter evening this rural community gathers to prepare for the coming holiday season. The church sexton has arrived early by Horseback and is inside stoking the wood furnace. Choir members are not far behind and will enter a sanctuary filled with both physical and spiritual warmth The old bus loaded with kids, approaches the school where rehearsal is already Underway. Outside horses and dogs wait patiently for their masters. One, inspired by the muted music reaching his cars, responds with a unique holiday howl, adding a distinctive note to the still night air." |

"On this serene Sunday morning all of God's creatures are congregating. The humans have arrived in cars and buggies. The deer, who have been waiting all night, slowly stir. The cows amble contentedly toward their early morning drink. Suddenly, the calf becomes aware of strangers across the stream. In response the young doe rises, ears alert, and intently watches the intruders' approach. After a few moments of mutual inspection, both cows and deer will continue on with their business. High above the steeple, the circling pigeons have been scattered by ringing bells. They patiently wait for silence so they can return to their comfortable resting place on the church roof." |

In this nostalgic image Terry Redlin revisits the Sunny days of his youth. It was an innocent time when the most important thing in the world was to grab pail and pole and hike out to tile nearest fishing hole. ... The nearby bait shop offered ample refreshments for young appetites, including Langenfeld ice cream. The artist's wife was a member of the Langenfeld family, and the authentic sign is one of the personal touches we sometimes find in Mr. Redlin's work. The vast area of golden dandelions covering the ground also holds special meaning for the artist. He recalls them as being "not a weed to be despised, but for me a welcome and glorious flower that colored my world." |
