"As a young boy our local speedway held tremendous fascination for me," the artist remembers. "Whenever I got a chance I stopped by to see what was going on." In this intriguing new image a couple of kids carefully watch as Tim puts some finishing touches on his car. Other drivers mill around, making sure their cars are tuned and ready to go. Even the fire truck has arrived to watch the preparations. "Tim was a father figure to us boys," Mr. Barnhouse recalls. "He was a local guy who shared in all the community enthusiasms. His shop was always open to offer advice or order parts for drivers."

Here are a pair of Barnhouse prints to "draw to,"  as the saying goes. Dave has duplicated these two prints. In one, the Chevy is the "star." In the other, the "Ford" is.
Chevy truck or Ford truck"Even the strongest Chevy or the toughest Ford can get stuck in the mud on a rain-soaked country road. But how humbling to get a tow from the rival brand truck. On this evening the challenge is to take the help along with the good natured barbs: 'You should'a bought a truck like mine' or 'You get what you pay for!' In the long run each owner will accept the help offered, no matter how hard it is to take."

"This artist paints his memories of growing up in small town America. In "Horsepower," a county fair scene sets up the subtle comparison of a workhorse to two mechanical horses, as tractors were once termed."

In this evening downpour there are watchers sitting by the pickup. The geese enjoying the rain while dad stands by his John Deere tractor in the shed wondering when the rain will quit. What a wet damp cold evening.

"Dave Barnhouse re-creates the best of times in his depictions of small town America. Celebrations of rural life as portrayed in this image conveys the comradery central to those who share common interests. ...The artist remembers [life] in the 1950s and 60s, when a parade of John Deere tractors, past and present, was a major event in a community celebration."
One of Dave Barnhouse's many prints, or an original painting, would make a great gift choice for Christmas, Mother's Day, or as a birthday gift for a friend, relative or even yourself. What better way to bring back those fond memories of times gone by.

Just give us some lead time.     Allen

We regret the need to raise our shipping costs.
Postage costs have steadily increased while we held the line on our shipping prices.

and $10 to the price of any framed print $200 and over. There is
no price change on an unframed print.
