Christmas 2014 and1986 -- "This print, a companion to Sharing Season I, celebrates the same sharing impulse that is so often apparent in rural areas. We note the wreath and shovel by the front door, the distant church, and this time the corn in bountiful supply in two open cribs. A warm and friendly mood permeates the scene as a pair of Canada geese stop by to share in this holiday atmosphere."

"The family has returned to the small crossroads town for the holiday season, and Dad has hitched up the sleigh and horses for a late afternoon ride. The departed sun is casting a warm glow over the sky and river surface, but the bundled passengers and horses breath tell us the winter air is cold and crisp. For this homecoming excursion only the farm dog has been left behind. He is an important part of this rural family, but the sleigh is crowded and someone must watch the house."

New in 05! -- In this, the fifth painting in “An American Portrait”, Terry Redlin captures the icy stillness of a winter’s night and the peaceful, quiet joy of “His First Homecoming”. Our young man’s new independence has not overshadowed his deep sense of family. It’s only been a few months since he went away to school, but he is lonesome and homesick. As he pulls up to the snow-packed curb, the neighborhood sleeps. The only sound is the crunch of snow beneath his boots and the thump, thump, thump of Buddy’s tail on the sidewalk. His arrival is unexpected. The cat patiently sits by the doorstep as our young man reunites with his dog. As he hugs his trusted friend, the steady wag of his tail tells us that Buddy has been waiting to see him, too. The full moon brightens the night sky; and tucked in, under a blanket of freshly fallen snow, his home awaits. Colorfully wrapped packages and a freshly cut evergreen will soon surprise his family. This will be a special holiday season for them all. In this painting, we are reminded of the peacefulness, the safety, and the comforts of home.

New in 04!
-- In "Hometown" Terry Redlin captures the romance of a snowy winter night with all the sparkle of the holiday season. In this scene, two deer have a clear view of the town below the hill. As the smoke from the surrounding chimneys wafts through the evening air, the deer slowly begin their nightly journey to the corn field just beyond the Lakeview Bed and Breakfast. We can see from the tracks in the snow that this is their favorite route. In the distance, the headlights encircling the skating rink tell us that the evening's entertainment has begun. We can almost hear the muffled laughter and the scraping of skate blades across the ice. Elements in this image were inspired by the artist's imagination, but it is a familiar scene in hometowns across America.

New in 02! -- The first star to appear in the evening sky twinkles more brightly than the others. It is the planet Venus but stargazers prefer to call it the Evening Star. The children have just finished a long day of tobogganing and sledding and ire now working on their new friend, the snowman The dogs arc tired from playing in the snow, but not to tired to spot the rabbit under the evergreens. playing the hill, the skating rink is encircled with cars filled with spectators to the evening's entertainment. As the headlights burn through the ground fog, they become spotlights on the young skaters. In this image, Terry Redlin captures the magic of this snowy winter playground.

New in 01! -- "This could be a self portrait," Terry Redlin remarks. "As a young boy early morning church service was not my favorite activity. I would much rather have been outside experiencing the healing power of nature." This image is a delightful retelling of that youthful struggle. The boy is playing hooky, fishing one last time before the creek freezes over. His family's horse drawn carriage is headed home after the service. As the young fisherman quickly ducks behind the bridge railing, he is not noticed, and can only hope his dog will remain silent and out of sight on the stream bank below. Terry Redlin collectors may note that this picture seems faintly familiar. Last year's painting, "Evening Frost", includes the same distinctive covered bridge, stream and church. "Morning Frost" conveys its own intriguing story at the slightly earlier time in the season.

New in 00! -- "The dropping evening temperature has turned the moist air into a frosty white wonderland, with every surface sparkling in the moon's bright beams. The covered bridge, with lanterns hanging at both ends, guide the horse and sleigh safely across its slippery surface. Listen, you can hear the jingle of the bell harness in the still night? The large Christmas tree will soon be delivered to the nearby church, then gaily decorated for the coming season's celebrations. Rarely does Terry Redlin create a painting without some hint of surrounding wildlife, and this beautiful image is no exception. Careful observers will note a deserted bird's nest clinging to the inside roof of the bridge. A few months ago swallows called this home as they gracefully swooped about during their summertime frolics."

-- "In the crisp winter air the children's voices mix with the aroma of toasting marshmallows and the crackle of a glowing bonfire. Each of the toasters has his or her own special technique to produce that "just right" golden brown delicacy. On a nearby knoll three deer quietly observe the festive scene. They have not gone unnoticed. Two of the children (can you find them?) have sensed their presence and peer up toward the secluded hiding place. This delightful scene is a sequel to "Sweet Memories."
