Charles Wysocki's
"Ladies in Waiting" Series Prints

The "Ladies in Waiting" prints by Charles Wysocki are unusual in
  • there seems to be a real connection with all of the images in the series and the customers who buy them.
  • ladies are depicted as emotionally strong, always waiting for their man to return from the sea.
  • all prints display a similar color scheme.
  • sell out quickly.

Currently we have these prints available:  Sea Captain's Wife, Praying  and  Thinking about Horatio. Other titles in the series are:  Daddy's Coming Home (1986),  You've Been So Long at Sea Horatio (1987),   Another Year At Sea (1989),  Yearning For My Captain (1987),  Home Is My Sailor (1988),  Sea Captain's Wife Abiding (1991). 2001 - She loves to sail the craft that Horatio had built for her. There are days with her private thoughts when she cruises the shore forlornly passing the time, possibly thinking of the letter she will write that night. The sea is where she met her captain and she readily accepted the life she knew she was fated to endure when she married this ever-traveling sailor. The saga continues as she spends her long, lonely days and nights alive with the hope that he will return someday soon, as his last letter hinted, or arrive unexpectedly, surprising her to banish the persistent heartache.

1999 - "I have been painting this love story for about ten years or so and I find it to be one of my greatest joys. I guess I'm one of those hopeless romantics. "So the saga continues through my paintings, set in New England in the Victorian Era on the theme of the faithful wife patiently waiting, maybe years, for her sea captain to come home to her once again. This lure of the sea and the command of his own ship was his lifelong desire and pursuit. His wife knew of this commitment and has graciously accepted the long absences, accompanied by pleasant memories but dutifully enduring the long lonely vigils, with the unbearable thought that she may never see him again. She is ever aware of the many dangers he faces at sea, especially as winter approaches and keeps him constantly on her mind, in her heart and in her prayers."
