"Old Friends" by Dave Barnhouse Image Size 15" x 25" 750 s/n $150 print $385 framed print S&I included email order form |
2007 - In this print we glimpse more of Barnhouse's memories of rural life. It's early evening and there are two farmers visiting. A golden lab lays at their feet. It's easy to tell it's fall with the pumpkins for sale across the way. The older farmall tractor is bring hay to be used for farm animals some where. In the distance we see the farm across the road where the visiting farmer has come from. It's easy to feel like we're apart of the painting and visiting too with the farmers. |

"Talkin' Turkey" by Dave Barnhouse Image Size 14 3/4" x 26" 500 s/n $150 print $385 framed print S&I included email order form |
"Talkin' Turkey" tells a story that happens almost every day in the country, and especially in days gone by. It is the story of two good friends, who take time for each other at the end of the day. This farmer was simply doing a little maintenance on his tractor when his good friend stopped by on his motorcycle. Each of them takes time off from work to "talk turkey" - which could be hunting stories or any other news of the day. "In the country you didn't have to go far to hunt. Wildlife was all around you. And hunting was a tradition that provided recreation, camaraderie, as well as meals for your family." - Dave Barnhouse |

"Spirit of Giving" by Dave Barnhouse Image Size 16" x 26" 1,950 s/n $175 print $385 framed print S&I included email order form |
"With the sell out of "The Spirit of Giving," more than $30,000.00 will be donated to support the many important on-going community activities of The Salvation Army. In this beautiful image by on of America's favorite artists we witness a warm episode in small town life. The local farmer on his Oliver tractor has donated time and equipment for the annual Salvation Army sponsored holiday hayride. On this chilly evening the wagon has stopped at The Salvation Army building on Main Street for a cup of hot chocolate. After a brief rest they will continue their ride, laughing and shouting, through the snowy streets, creating fond memories for the watching adults. This nostalgic painting reminds us that young people are the precious resource of an entire community, and that The Salvation Army is "on guard" not only in times of crisis, but also in the quieter moments of everyday life." |

"Warmth of Home" by Dave Barnhouse Image Size 16" x 26" 1,950 s/n $175 print $385 framed print S&I included email order form |
"It's a few days before Christmas and both the house and shed are appropriately decorated. The temperature hovers around zero. The moon is breaking through the scattered cloud cover casting cool shadows across the snow. Grandpa has just arrived with a trailer full of wood and Grandma offers another child her special hot chocolate. She had better have plenty on hand because, as careful observers will notice, three visitors approach on the distant road. 'Hot chocolate can certainly take the chill off a winter's evening.' the artist comments, 'but we all know that being part of a family, and having friends in the neighborhood, is the real warmth in one's life." |

"Back Home Again" by Dave Barnhouse Image Size 15" x 29" 999 s/n $175 print $385 framed print S&I included email order form |
Barnhouse uses the patriotism theme in this rural farm scene. He uses the yellow ribbon tied on the oak tree by the barn and the American flag on the back wall of the barn. The young serviceman has returned and stories are being related as the younger family members gather around the hero for a very welcome homecoming. We see a Farmall tractor in the background reminding us of Dave's love of machinery. Especially tractors. |

"Coming Home" by Dave Barnhouse Image Size 16¼" x 28" 2,500 s/n $175 print $385 framed print S&I included email order form |
As the sun sets silently beyond the treeline, we are witness to one of life's joyful times. Months ago the family lovingly tied a yellow ribbon 'round the large oak tree and just this week their soldier has returned home. Now farm life will return to normal. The relic tractor, a 1936 John Deere D, provides a refuge for rabbits and small creatures. You can almost hear the turkeys considering whether or not they should leave the shelter of their hiding place. Outside the barn, two men are probably "talking turkey"; the price of grain, the latest doings of the school board, local politics and more. "Dusk is my favorite part of the day," Dave Barnhouse comments as he views the finished painting. "The special joys of country living haven't changed that much and on such a balmy, fall evening, nobody wants to be in the house." This is a John Deere licensed product. |

"For some, the best part of the State Fair is the tractor pull that's based on good-natured rivalry between those brand loyal to John Deere or Farmall. Those two competitors once again re-enact the contests staged in 'Bragging Rights' and 'The Rematch.' Now, in 'For Top Honors,' Dave Barnhouse has again drawn the line in the dirt. When this event is over, the winner can stand tall...at least until the next time he's challenged." |

"The County or State Fair is one of
rural America's most cherished institutions where neighbors often meet for some friendly
competition. For some, the best part of the Fair is the tractor pull that's based on
good-natured rivalry between those brand loyal to John Deere, Farmall or
International." The two prints included here are: "The Rematch" (top) and "Bragging Rights" (below) |

don't know which tractor wins but we are sure they will meet again. "Bragging Rights" is included as the bottom scene in "Friendly Rivalry" above. |

"Common Ground" by Dave Barnhouse Image Size 11" x 18" Open Ed. Signed $60 print $150 framed print S&I included email order form |
"The name of this farm, "Lazy Day", perfectly describes the painting's mood. As evening settles in, granddad and grandson lean easily on their tractors. Perhaps, we imagine, they discuss the relative merits of a Farmall and a John Deere. The artist comments: 'The older man is retired, but his love affair with tractors continues. He often spends his day tinkering with it, and takes a special pride in encouraging his young prodigy.'" |

"Once in a Lifetime" by Dave Barnhouse Image Size 12" x 24" Open Ed. $85 print $255 framed print S&I included email order form |
"The delivery of a brand new tractor is a once in a lifetime event for this small farm. They say everything is different from A to Z on this new generation tractor, so the whole family eagerly gathers to inspect it. The steady "Old Gold" tractor still hitched to the hay wagon is not yet retired, but if it were human, it just might be jealous of all the attention paid to the shiny new John Deere." |

"Shop Talk" by Dave Barnhouse Image Size 11" x 18" Open Ed. Signed $55 print $145 framed print S&I included email order form |
"'While driving through the countryside I came to this small crossroads village,' the artist recalls. 'It really wasn't much more then two or three buildings. Almost nothing to it. These three old boys were just talking away. Small talk. Shop talk. I love to just kind of hang out and listen. These neighbors were sure in low gear, visiting among their farm equipment, comfortable in their bib overalls and secure in their friendship. |

"Once again the family has gathered to celebrate the holidays with all the traditional activities. The ice has been swept and a small fire has been built for the skating party. The red Farmall Model M tractor will carry back the perfect Christmas tree that all will help to decorate. New arrivals, laden with gifts, are welcomed with open arms. The setting sun is a reminder that these winter days are short and even with all the holiday preparations, work on the farm does not stop." |
